What happened: Woodland Elementary relieved elementary crowding, but it added no middle- or high-school seats.
Why it matters: Swansboro Middle and Swansboro High remain over permanent-building capacity in the newest forecast.

Queens Creek Bridge, traffic, and safety
What happened: NCDOT has identified bridge, crash, and corridor-safety needs.
Why it matters: The Queens Creek Bridge replacement is programmed, but construction is not scheduled to begin until 2033.

Sweet Briar conditional rezoning
Proposal: Up to 240 single-family lots on approximately 109.78 acres of a larger tract.
Questions being tracked: roads, schools, utilities, stormwater, wetlands, emergency services, and cumulative effects alongside other development.

ONWASA’s 2020 Holly Ridge–Summerhouse capacity warning
A 305-page engineering study projected that the systems’ then-functional combined wastewater capacity would be exceeded by 2023 and advised beginning design in 2020–21. Hubert United has published the report, its central findings, its limitations and the still-missing follow-through.

ONWASA’s 2025 wastewater performance report
The official report says Summerhouse treated no wastewater in 2025 while the Holly Ridge plant ran at an annual average of 104% of its permitted capacity. It also documents recurring operational problems and contains figures that do not always reconcile. Hubert United’s review links every major finding to the source and separates confirmed facts from open questions.
